The Year Ahead: A Complete BaZi Annual Forecast Workbook

Most yearly forecasts fail because they treat everyone the same. This workbook does the opposite. Using your Day Master as the anchor, you will map the current year’s Stem-Branch combination against your natal chart, identify the months that amplify or drain your energy, and build a decision calendar you can actually use.

What you need before you start#

You do not need to be a BaZi expert. You need:

  • Your Day Master element (Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, or Water).
  • The polarity of your Day Stem (Yang or Yin).
  • A rough sense of which elements are already strong or weak in your chart.

If you do not know these yet, spend ten minutes on any free BaZi calculator and return. The rest of this guide assumes you have them.

How the annual pillar moves your chart#

Each year carries a Heavenly Stem and an Earthly Branch. The Stem is the visible weather of the year: the opportunities, themes, and social mood. The Branch is the underground current: the emotional texture, hidden alliances, and the resources you can draw on without announcing it.

When the year’s Stem is your useful element — the element that balances your Day Master — the year opens doors. When it is your burden element, the same actions cost more energy. The Branch matters for relationships and inner stability. A favorable Branch can carry you through an otherwise difficult Stem.

Step 1: Define your Day Master’s current state#

Answer these three questions honestly:

  1. Do I feel overextended or underfed? Overextension usually means your Day Master is being drained by too many Output or Wealth stars. Underfed means you lack Resource or parallel support.
  2. What do I want more of this year? Money, influence, rest, creativity, partnership, visibility?
  3. What pattern keeps repeating? Look at the last three years. The element that dominated them is your recent conditioning.

Write the answers in a notebook. They are more useful than any generic prediction.

Step 2: Score the year against your chart#

Use a simple four-point scale for each element present in the annual pillar:

Score Meaning
+2 Strongly supportive for you
+1 Mildly helpful
0 Neutral or mixed
-1 Mildly draining
-2 Strongly conflicting

Rate the year’s Stem and Branch separately, then add them. A score of +3 or higher is a green-light year. A score of -3 or lower is a consolidation year: protect your energy, avoid big bets, and focus on internal repair. Most years fall in the middle, which means timing within the year becomes the real lever.

Step 3: Map the favorable months#

Each lunar month brings a new Stem-Branch pair. The months that share the year’s most supportive element are your windows. Mark them in your calendar as:

  • Gold windows: Best for launches, negotiations, travel, and major purchases.
  • Silver windows: Good for learning, relationship repair, and creative work.
  • Rest windows: Schedule recovery, audits, and ending commitments rather than starting them.

Do not try to outrun a bad month. Use it to clear debt, declutter, and finish what you started.

Step 4: Build your personal decision calendar#

For each quarter, write one primary intention and one boundary:

  • Q1 intention: What do I want to seed?
  • Q1 boundary: What will I stop saying yes to?
  • Q2 intention: What do I want to grow?
  • Q2 boundary: Where will I limit my exposure?
  • Q3 intention: What do I want to harvest?
  • Q3 boundary: What distraction will I cut?
  • Q4 intention: What do I want to complete or release?
  • Q4 boundary: What will I not carry into next year?

Step 5: The monthly review ritual#

On the first day of each lunar month, do this five-minute check-in:

  1. Read the month’s Stem-Branch.
  2. Compare it to your scorecard.
  3. Choose one action that aligns with the month’s element.
  4. Choose one action to defer.
  5. Update your calendar for the next four weeks.

This ritual is the reason premium members get results. Forecasting is not a one-time event; it is a conversation with time.

Final note#

A forecast is not a sentence. It is a weather report. The sailor who checks the wind still has to steer the boat. This workbook gives you the map; the choices remain yours.
